Wedding Entertainment: Finding The Right Wedding Entertainer
There are numerous options on the table for wedding entertainment. A DJ will probably be central to your plans. You might look at booking a string quartet for the ceremony, afternoon drinks reception or meal. A magician might smooth over the drinks reception too. Perhaps you’ll hire a caricaturist to capture your guests at their most relaxed later on in the evening.
But the most important wedding entertainer you could hire? An acoustic guitarist and singer of course! You can’t beat a bit of live music on your big day.
I’ve been singing at weddings for close to 10 years and during that time I’ve acquired an extensive repertoire and plenty of experience. I know which songs to play at each part of the wedding day, and can even take requests on the spot.
Acoustic guitar music is not just background music, it can be a crucial part of the entertainment. The guitar is a wonderfully versatile instrument and it’s possible to convert almost any song into an acoustic anthem. As long as the song has a half decent melody, I’ll be able to play it!
Singing a bride (or grooms) down the aisle is a moment that can never be repeated and is totally unique to you. I can learn any song of your choosing for the ceremony – just make sure you give me a bit of notice!
The afternoon drinks reception and wedding breakfast are two of the most common times that I play. While guests are milling about and you have some photos taken, it’s an ideal opportunity to have a wedding entertainer. Sure you could go for classical music or piano, but you can’t beat an acoustic guitarist (I’m biased of course).
As the day wears on and the drinks start to flow, your friends and family will be in the party mood. Acoustic guitar music might not be known for its ability to make people dance, but as the day progresses, there’s a good chance that feet will be tapping! I’ve even been known to compose custom original songs as part of a groom’s speech – please get in touch if this is something that appeals to you.
The first dance is another key moment. It is not about entertainment as such, more about sharing in a moment that the newly married couple will never forget. It’s almost time to hand over to the most well-known wedding entertainer – the DJ – but I reckon there is always time to squeeze in some more acoustic classics.
So there you have it. If you are looking for wedding entertainment, it really pays to consider an acoustic guitarist and singer. I’ve travelled all over the UK, including Herts, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Kent and Cornwall, and I’ve also played overseas at destination weddings in Italy and Croatia. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via my contact form.
